Indian Premier League the bikini version of game, tailor-made for television audience has been in news since it’s inception for numerous reasons from extravaganza auction in the first season to eleventh hour change in the venue last year. IPL encompassed by glamorous Bollywood and corporate world coupled with T20 was bound to be success story. And the controversies surrounding it have played a huge role in raising its popularity quotient. Affairs associated with IPL was taking point of every Tom, Dick and Harry be it bid amount, income per run scored by a batsman or income that bowler generates by bowling one delivery, franchise profit, performance by cheerleaders on sidelines or Harbhajan’s slap-gate episode .
Back in April 2008 Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owned by Shahrukh Khan, had a fantastic start to Indian Premier League’s (IPL) inaugural season. Thanks to Brendon McCullum. His blistering inning of 158* helped KKR in defeating Royal Challangers Banglore by 140 runs. IPL-3 auction took place at a five-star hotel in Mumbai on 19th January, and as expected it was action packed day with expensive bidding and scores of controversies. There were 67 players in the auction and about 13 slots. The auction was held according to predefined pools. There were aggressive and luxurious bidding by all Franchises.
