Rajasthan maintained their 100% record on their home ground Jaipur with a ruthless victory over Punjab on Wednesday. At the business end of the tournament this win will give them a lot of confidence. Rajasthan made a mockery of Punjab’s total by chasing it down in just 15 overs. In the process they boosted their net run-rate which may play a crucial part in deciding the semi final spots.

Chennai defended a moderate total with a peachy resolve, and beat Mumbai by 24 runs on a sluggish Chepauk pitch. After winning a toss MSD opted to bat first and they managed to score 165 for four in 20 overs. Then the home bowlers restricted potent Mumbai’s line up to 141 for nine.

We had seen it earlier. We saw it yesterday too. Some things are constant. Like the magic in Shane Warne’s wrists. Warne produced his best spell of IPL-3 when it really mattered to snatch a victory from the jaws of Hyderabad.

In the first leg of IPL when Daredevils were on losing streak they beat Bangalore and got the winning momentum back and in second leg they again crushed the mighty opponents and now with 4 consecutive wins are handshaking distance away from semi final birth. With dangerous Sehwag, Gambhir and Warner in good nick top order was never a concern for Delhi but Collingwood’s inclusion in playing eleven has strengthen their middle order. And he came good last night with his splendid knock of 75 of 46 balls (3×4, 7×6) which ensured that Delhi post an imposing total on board. The balanced bowling attack and brilliant on field performance made sure that they restrict explosive Bangalore batting from securing a win.

Awesome is the word that defines the destructive innings played by little fella Mahela 110 runs from 59 balls comprising 14 fours and 3 maximums with a staggering strike rate of 186.44. After an injury to Shaun Marsh and last minute inclusion in team, it looked like Mahela wanted to prove his point to team management that he is the best option that they have. Mumbai is in semis now and for Hyderabad it’s a difficult road ahead to secure their place in semis. Mumbai won their 7th match in this IPL season. Hyderabad managed to get to just 115 runs while chasing a target of 179 runs and felt short by 63 runs. Save for Punjab, the downbeat for Hyderabad is all other teams have lifted their game in last few matches to get a semifinal birth and Hyderabad is still struggling at half way through tournament.
