In today’s double dhamaka Delhi will take on Bangalore and Chennai will play against Mumbai. With 3 losses from 5 games Delhi and Chennai both need a win badly. Unfortunately both of them are up against tough opponents. And to beat Bangalore and Mumbai, Delhi and Chennai will have to play out of their skins.
Match 1: – Bangalore vs Delhi
Bangalore is on roll and with 4 wins on trot they occupy the top spot on points table. Bangalore’s ominous form makes them favorite in today’s tie against Delhi. On field their batters and bowlers have complemented each others and played well as unit under Jumbo’s leadership. Though in last few games batting is revolved around orange cap holder Kallis they have batsmen like Uthappa, Kohli, Pandey, Morgen who can take an attack to opposition at will and experienced players like Dravid and Boucher can anchor inning at other end. Bangalore’s bowling unit is the best among all other teams with no. 1 ranked bowler and one of the best leggie in their rank they can create a problem for Sehwag and Co.
On the other hand Delhi who started a tourney on a high note are in spot of bother with injuries to key players. Gambhir and Nehra who returned after getting a treatment in Srilanka are doubtful for today’s tie. In the absence of Gambhir and out of form Dilshan and Ab De Villiers, Sehwag will have to do a bulk of scoring and for that he must stay at crease for 8-12 overs and also rookie Warner will have to provide a swift start to make up for inadequate middle order. Bowling department is a major concern for Delhi and they will have to look beyond Nannes to prevent Bangalore batsmen from getting easy runs.
Match 2:- Mumbai vs Chennai
Although back-to-back losses can be de-motivating for a side; Chennai is crowing with Dhoni’s return. Because MSD brings in the X-factor which Super Kings lacked the other night. CSK is strong team on paper but they need to play to their potential to beat mighty opponents – Mumbai. They are too dependent on Hayden. Dhoni’s return will bring in stability to batting line-up and Raina – relived from captaincy responsibility can play handy innings in middle order. Bowling attack lead by Murali is good to restrict explosive Mumbai batters. It would be interesting to see how Dhoni rotates his bowlers against in-form Sachin and company.
Turn to Mumbai Indians and they are on run with 3 wins from 4 games. The God is in excellent form and that’s enough to give Murali and Co. some sleepless nights and likes of Tiwary and Tare have come good to play an important role in middle order. All-rounders Pollard and Bravo offers a rock solid strength to squad. And trio of Zaheer, Harbhajan and Maliga is dreadful and difficult to score off and can provide breakthrough whenever required.
With Bangalore and Mumbai willing to continue their winning run and Hyderabad and Chennai fighting to get back the lost momentum both the games promises a keen battle between quality teams. And for likes of Manish Pandey, VInay Kumar, Badrinath, M Vijay, S Tayagi, S Tiwary this is the last opportunity to impress selectors for an India call-up for upcoming T20 world cup. Selection is slated for Friday and the youngsters would like to present a strong case for their candidature with good performance. So get ready and tighten your seat belts for this Double Dhamaka !!!
