England and South Africa Register Super Wins

After two rain interrupted matches, finally England won their first match of T20 world cup. It was a match between two inconsistent teams. Pakistan have themselves to blame for their poor show. They were pathetic on field and dropped crucial catches that cost them heavily. Batting first they got to 147 in 20 overs with a little contribution from everyone. A total of 147 looked competitive but dropped catches and a wonderful batting display by Pieteresen took a game away from them.

It was a good all round performance by English side. Broad, Yardy, Sidebottom picked 2 wickets each. Only Salman Butt and Umar Akmal managed to get pass 30. Pakistan included Asif in their line-up but their fielding was below par and that made the difference.

In another match South Africa beat New Zealand Handsomely. Kallis and Smith provided a steady start. Ab DeVilliers played well for his 47 and rotated strike regularly. The stage was perfectly set for Morkel to launch the final assault. He scored 40 of 18 balls and hit 5 towering sixes. In 18^th over he clobbered Southee for 3 massive sixes. 170 was the target for New Zealand.

New Zealand had a quiet start to their inning. Ryder looked in form but there was not any substantial contribution from any other New Zealanders. They kept on losing wickets at regular interval. Langeveldt, Botha, Morkel picked 2 wickets each. Eventually South Africa won by 13 runs.
