After tearing apart KKR bowlers, Master blaster has expressed his thoughts on upcoming T20 world cup which is  just a month away. News channels had banked on the opportunity and made an issue out of this as well. I saw news channel flashing a news saying “Kapil Dev: Sachin should take pride in playing for India” . Now what on earth is wrong with these people. After scoring more than 30,000 runs, 93 hundreds and only man to score double century, he is still tagged of patriotism? That’s absolutely baseless argument.  We all know he is man of few words and has a great passion for country.

Madan Lal and Kapil Dev want him to play for India. According to them he can guide the team. His childhood friend Vinod Kambli said “Do not put pressure on him. He is enjoying all forms of cricket right now and it’s his decision to play or not to play. ” When asked to former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly about Sachin’s decision, he said “In 2007 when we were on the tour of England, 3-4 of us decided that we will not play this form of  game“.I can understand from a viewer’s point of view, we all want him to keep on playing for at least 1000 more years. But that cannot be the case. Age is not with Sachin and he have to take care of his body.

Sachin has all record against his name except a world cup. It is quiet obvious that he wish to keep his body fit and survive untill coming world cup. May be he want to save his vigor for the pinnacle of the game that is going to be held in India next year. However, critics are saying that T20 world cup could be an opportunity for master to break his jinx of losing out on world titles. He played in 2003 world cup final but could not convert it. It is obvious that he has a limited opportunities to score a world title and that’s why people want him to play in T20 world cup.

Jyoti Randhawa, a well known golfer, said that “Indian team is not Indian team without Sachin”. Agreed but let’s look at him as a human and not a run scoring machine. Azharuddin said “it’s Sachin’s decision and none should ask him to change it. He is the authority and we should respect his decisions”. Spectators want him play quoting him a better player than many youngsters. India needs you is the slogan in vogue right now.

It is wrong to expect him play every other game. He is playing IPL 2010 and T20 world cup is not far away. One major concern that he must have seen is the number of injuries IPL 2010 season has brought. Senior players are sure that he will change his decision and they would be able to convince Sachin to play in T20 game. I too want him play but as a cricketer and not as an entertainer.  I am sure you all would love to see him playing the game of cricket and not just entertaining us. Let’s leave this decision to master himself and work on developing young talent that IPL as brought to notice.
